Music for Real: Choosing the right instructor
Music for Real is a weekly column printed by The Burlington Union and written by the faculty at the Real School of Music in Burlington.
This week, Dave Reffett
explains how to choose the right instructor. Ultimately, a music school's goal is to not only teach how to play an instrument but to also inspire.
He says there are three things to consider when picking a teacher:
- Is the teacher qualified?
- Does the teacher’s musical style and influences match up with the student's?
- Is there good chemistry between the teacher and student?
