RealJams for Juniors is Real School’s week-long, half-day (9:00 a.m. - Noon) summer music program that introduces students ages 6-9 to the foundations of music making.
This fun and exciting program is based on the theories of Carl Orff and the Orff-Schulwerk philosophy, which combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play.
Students will learn the basics of a variety of instruments, including:
- Piano
- Guitar
- Xylophone
- Metallophone
- Glockenspiel
- Drums
- Recorder
Activities and concepts include:
- Music, movement and pitch-matching games
- An introduction to improvisation
- Learning to read music
- Introduction to music theory
- Enhancing music vocabulary
- Participate, practice and perform in a group setting
- Perform week-end concert
